The bathroom has come on its way in the past hundred years. After just a basic tub that is in front of the living room fireplace and filled with buckets of water, the present bathing experience is luxurious in almost every house in the west. At that time, the “bathroom” was something that only the rich and the privileged had in their home. This trend leads to mass production of bathroom products. Edwardian and Victorian style is still a popular choice today. They look beautiful in the villa or cottage bathroom, and never get out of their appeal in terms of design.

Today, thanks to advanced plumbing and modern plumbing technology, the bathrooms may have evolved as far as possible. With luxurious steam rooms and hydrotherapy baths, it’s hard to imagine how bathrooms can become more sophisticated. It is said that the bathroom, like any room in the house, is always changing in terms of design trends. Here we see the five most popular bathroom design styles. Traditional, Country, Shabby chic, Contemporary and Fantasy.

Traditional

Traditional bathrooms can mean traditional in Edwardian or Victorian style, or with a standard white bathroom with basic sanitary ware and bathtub. Here, we’ll see the design style of the bathroom where it all started. Edwardian bathroom. Over the past decade, with the popularity of TV shows like Changing Rooms, the trend for ancient bathrooms has undergone a real resurgence. A rare gem of an old tub or rusty traditional faucet can be found on scrap yard or in pass, but fortunately the manufacturer adheres to the demand with traditionally manufactured bathroom products.

Certain rooms only work in certain homes, so if you live in a modern high-rise apartment, a traditional bathroom will not work for you. If you have an old cottage or retreat villa, this bathroom style is the place you should consider. Almost always, the bath tub is the center of attraction of the traditional bathroom. Roll-top bath or freestanding slipper stands proudly on a darkly polished floor, and only if you go to a traditional continental-style bathroom will an inset or a sunken bathtub withstand appeal. Either the wall-mounted faucet or the free-standing one looks classy. The inner valleys and curved corners are what make traditional sanitary ware for what it is – bold and masculine.

When decorating a traditional bathroom, soft tones and bold colors can work well. A strong brown, maroon and green sound gives a nice warmth to the room, but make sure the bathroom is well lit, probably with a fancy chandelier. With the right color, antique gold can look better than chrome. Go for the curtains, never the curtains. If looking for a vanity unit rather than a traditional basin and pedestal, choose oak or cherry; or the white Cynk vanity unit looks good with a traditional bath and toilet. One of the most interesting things about traditional bathrooms is that chaos provides more of a vibrant effect, thus enhancing the traditional look. Do not be afraid to put a lot of pictures on the wall – black and white family portraits in a golden frame look good.

Drawers or corner tables with scented candles, aromatherapy oils or flowers will actually turn the room on. As a finishing touch, a heavyweight scales, large-framed mirror or large traditional radiator will give the room a cozy feel.

Country

A country-style bathroom is probably the easiest type of design to make, and like a traditional bathroom only really works well inside the right house. The classic state view is best associated with flower wallpaper, high beam, basin ornament and bath canopy. Following the traditional design, cast iron baths and jagged sanitary equipment is what gives a distinctive nostalgic feel in the bathroom. Checks, floral or checkered blinds are preferred over rolling curtains, and window coverings, though rarely found in England, offer excellent privacy and add effects in the country. Wood plays a big role in this look, and almost all the furniture works well in this place, especially beech units, maple, ash and oak vanity and cabinets.

Either a tile or a wooden floor can be used. Tiles should be rough in color, and can be used to create elaborate mosaics. The wooden floor should be varnished to fit the furniture. Decorations may see the stencil motif used as a border, and the technique of painting paint on the walls with a sponge gives the room a natural look. Toilets with high level water tanks and tensile chains are very rare these days, but must be owned for bathrooms in the country, as are traditional taps for bathtubs and basins.

Almost any type of free standing bathtub will suit the bathroom in this country. If you want a walk-in shower shower is a recommended option with a curtain to cover the area. For the finishing touches add a wicker basket filled with pot pouri, wire basket rack and stylish wall lamp.

Shabby chic

“Shabby chic”, a relatively new phrase used to describe the design of the room, is an uncertain blend of neglect and style. This is one of the most difficult bathroom designs to make, and it takes a bold decision to use this stylish bathroom. It almost certainly reaches its full potential in a continental home, either a French palace or an old Spanish villa. The absolute opposite of the right bathroom, the chic shabby appearance is a mismatch of style and product. You can even do the unexpected, like putting a refrigerator in a corner. Nothing is expected to match and pipework and plumbing showcased rather than hidden. This style is best suited for those who have inherited the bathroom and want to update it a bit rather than climbing the new bathroom suite.

Key decoration is neutral tone with some dark color. For walls select matte or flat wall paint. Pale gold and yellow work very well like floral wallpapers or checks. As is the case with country and traditional bathrooms, a cast iron bath is a must. Either a roll-top bath or a sandal will do, and even if you do not want holes or rust, the more dilapidated it looks better. Even consider running sandpaper for paint work and claw feet. Always worth a look at old fixtures at antique stores and car boot sales.

Counter top basin is highly recommended in this setting, and look out for a very unusually decorated design. Place it in the sink or vanity run-down unit. Add unique ornaments and antique-framed mirrors.

As well as furniture, wall-hung sanitary wares are a space-saving solution while providing contemporary feel to the bathroom. In addition, the hidden tank unit is a more eye-pleasing look than a standard enclosed toilet.

Walk-in baths are also very popular in modern bathrooms, and if buying a shower enclosure for a modern bathroom, opt for a white chrome structure. Chrome and stainless steel are the ultimate choice in modern bathrooms, and taps and bathtub mixers are available in a number of contemporary designs, not traditional style faucets.

In addition, select a flat chrome rail above the standard white radiator, as well as the appropriate chrome accessories. Do not be afraid to decorate with bold colors when processing or painting, get a contrast with chrome and gloss. If using curtains to be smooth with design and color, but should go for a stylish roller blind.

Fantasy

Dare to be anything more than conventional, fantasy bathroom design lets you be truly innovative with your fantasies and tastes. With an emphasis on futuristic, this stylish bathroom is a traditionalist antithesis. The fantasy design is ideally exclusive only for larger bathrooms, because with all the futuristic interior designs the large open spaces are what bring the room together. Steam cabin and whirlpool bathtub are the ideal choice for bath and shower. Or combine both well-designed bath screens and glass shower panels.

Because of their minimal effect, the Walk-in shower also works well with modern tiles, chrome shower fixtures and classy shower lighting. For sanitary ware go with wall-hung or standard close-coupled toilet and basin with pedestal base with acute angle and contemporary design. The towel wheels and the weathered wenge furniture fit in the fantasy bathroom, giving it a look almost surrealistic. The most luxurious luxury in a fantasy bathroom is definitely a waterproof TV. You can even imagine doubling the bathroom as a gym, complete with exercise bikes and a rowing machine.
